MISCHA

I'm not a small dog person at all. But when I was in Paris a great friend of mine and gorgeous Russian girl called Valentina asked Gabbie to take care of her pooch for a long weekend whilst she went away. And so arrived Mischa... and she rocked!

It was the best weekend of my time in Paris. My brother came to visit - Ross, Gabbie, Tod and I - all spent the evening at Gab's and Ross's apartment (with one of Gab's incredible curries) before heading to the best club I have ever been to in my life - all on flying form and finally drunk and high as little kites we climbed Sacre Coeur to see the sunrise....

Photos of Mischa remind me of that weekend!

My Daddy

I was looking for something pretty precious today and amidst my hunting I found a heavy black metal box that was buried under loads of stuff and covered in thick dust. It was locked and I had to ask my dad for the key. That took another hour of searching for the key. But when we eventually got this box open - it was full of old old old photos. For the first time in my life I can now put a face to my Grandmother and Grandfather - (who died before I was born which) is such a cool thing for me. I also found a load of photos of my father, his sister - my auntie Jane and his brother - my uncle Michael - as kids.

I don't get to see my whole family enough - we are so spread out across this world and it was so nice to find all these shots.

I LOVE this photo of my dad - he is the absolute rock in my life and has seen me through some of the worst times possible and this picture just reminds that in fact he's human - and was a munchkin once too! *Wicked*

The World's First Cocaine Bar

' "Tonight we have two types of cocaine; normal for 100 Bolivianos a gram, and strong cocaine for 150 [Bolivianos] a gram." The waiter has just finished taking our drink order of two rum-and-Cokes here in La Paz,Bolivia, and as everybody in this bar knows, he is now offering the main course. The bottled water is on the house.' The Guardian Newspaper

Of course it is buried right in the heart of one of the most dark hearted cities I have ever been to - La Paz, Bolivia. That's not to say I didn't love La Paz, in fact it is one of the most exciting places I have ever been. However when I was there the cocaine lounge wasn't there- or if it was I certainly wasn't aware of it. So, what do I think?

Well it's an odd one that I have spent a lot of time considering. I think the legalisation of hard drugs is a dangerous thing. I'd vote against it. I keep being told that in fact it's a great idea because we can tax the lot and remove the criminal element. Firstly I think people who throw money at drugs don't give a shit about the proportionally small added cost of tax - especially if what they are buying is clean. Secondly I don't think it will remove the criminal element at all - because people who don't feel like shelling up for the pure stuff or fancy saving face by not buying it over the counter will just continue to call their dealers.

If I was in La Paz - would I go check out this place? I'm a photographer - Absolutely! And remember:
"never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience."

I'm not a weed smoker - but sure, legalise that .... what the hell - it just makes me laugh and pass out.

Today was tough. Not bad, just tough. I had to face some stuff that I have put off for a long time and haven't wanted to face for a long time. I guess there are always moments in time or certain days in a year  or even just a lifetime that will stick out because of how challenging they were. Today was one of those days for me - and I have known for a few weeks that it was coming and that it might rumble me a bit.

I think having challenging days makes everyone's achievements seem truly worthy and deeply satisfying. Life's not meant to be plain sailing - it is was we wouldn't feel nearly as alive. No matter how hard the difficult days like today can seem - I wouldn't run away from it all - well unless a fantastical circus with an enormous big top tent and a wagon full of wild creatures came a calling.

Goodnight World!

See you in 11.11.11.

HAPPY BONFIRE NIGHT

I am absolutely nuts about fireworks!
...so I guess - thanks Guy Fawkes for trying to blow up Parliament - not a fabulous idea let's face it - but ultimately a brilliant call! ;))

FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR

Golden - absolutely golden. Yesterday evening after a s.h.i.t. day I found myself watching season 1 again. God - it's great! I think I will forever love it.

NO SCHMOKING

all rights reserved to Tallulah Bunny

....with the winter season almost upon me, one thing I really want to do this year is not to take up smoking again. I have now been a non smoker for over 6 months but somehow seem to slip back into it when I'm working behind a bar.
Absolutely not this year though
Even if my friend Morgana (above) does make it rock.... it's filthy habit on anyone.

want to be here ...

More tents - have a thing for tents.

I FREAKIN' LOVE FIZZY VITAMIN C

It is just so cool to watch first thing in the morning. Like a mini bomb or Volcanic explosion going off at your kitchen table. I get such a buzz from watching this for about 40 seconds every morning.

Such a weirdo - I know

I'm missing my girlfriends ... a lot

There is a lot to be said for my somewhat vagabond lifestyle. But one of the flipsides is that, unlike I suppose the majority of people, I cannot call my nearest and dearest on a Saturday and say - see you ce soir?!
When I ever get married I will be hailing in my ladies from California (this may soon be Haiti in fact), Barcelona, Slovakia, Sweden, Thailand, London, Miami, Hawaii, Italy and NY.
There are times when I think about what I would give to have them all together for a long weekend together.
I love them and I miss them hugely
(Thank f**k for facebook)

The root of things to come

Have decided not to re-highlight my hair as planned next week. This, for me = BIG decision.
The plan is that in the next year it may look something along these lines:
